on the road

amazing video of jay z's intro at glastonbury on saturday. a lot of people had expressed concern/anger that he was headlining the festival, "hip-hop at glastonbury...no chance"
noel gallagher was one of the biggest critics and even though oasis are one of my favourite bands ever, he was way off the mark with some of his comments. if any festival can accomodate hip-hop artists then it's glastonbury. they have such an eclectic mox of musicl genres anyway, why not hip-hop? it keeps it fresh and attracts a broader audience. surely this is a good thing? i know i'd rather watch jay z (i think he's awesome for the record)than another boring, generic lad-rock indie band such as the enemy, pigeon detectives, fratellis, etc plying their shit 'anthems' to knuckle dragging, carling swilling liam gallaher wannabies. i think it was a brave move by michael eavis to book jay z and i think it paid off seeing as pretty much everyone is saying it's the best glastonbury for ages. this entrance was the best way to prove his critics wrong too...

tonight is the gallows show at the queen charlotte which we are playing along with tortuga and the scourge of river city. both those bands are amazing, but i am fully prepared for none of the kids there to like us. whatever. should still be fun times.
