preferring the worst

friday i headed down to london for the 'running riot' fest pre-show.
the line-up this year was a major improvement on the previous year,(does anyone know what yawn demise are doing at the moment, i haven't seen them on a flyer for a show for a while) with dead swans, dirty money, honour among thieves, fastpoint and more than life playing.
sadly, more than life broke down en route which was a major dissapointment as i was looking forward to seeing them again, but the show was still awesome. fastpoint played really well and their dead kennedys cover was spot on.
it was honour among thieves last ever show too. i've never been massively into this band, not that i think it's bad at all, just...whatever. anyway, they were so good on friday. highlight was definitely their modern life is war cover though which brought back memories of when that band were still good (and together.) diving off the balcony seemed like a good idea at the time too..
dirty money played great as they always do, definitely one of the best and most consistent uk hardcore bands around right now. seriously, get their split 7" with trapped under ice.
finally, dead swans played and were rad, as they have been every time i've seen them. i really like this band and it annoys me somewhat that so many people have given them shit since they appeared in kerrang. seriously, who really gives a fuck? they haven't changed their music, they're still the same people, they never begged kerrang to put them in their magazine. what is so wrong with a good uk hardcore getting some exposure? yes i realise kerrang is shite, but does it really matter if a band you like/don't like is featured in it? if you don't like their music fair enough, but i cannot comprehend people who say dead swans have "sold out". get a life and not posting on ridiculous hardcore message boards.
