totally as i predicted. norwich draw 1-1, only seem to turn up for the last 20 minutes and now we have a replay at home that no one on either side really wants, or needs. the only consolation is if we either draw a 'big side' away in the next round, or a really small side so i can go to a new ground.
also, arturo lupoli scored our equaliser, which is nice seeing as roeder has left him on the bench for the last few months and he said in this morning's edp that if he doesn't start games soon he may be forced to leave. i feel genuinely sorry for lupoli. he's 21 years old, on-loan from fiorentina for the seaon, has now scored five goals and looked sharp and dangerous in most of the games that he's played in. whether roeder thinks he's too light-weight for this season i don't know, but he obviously wasn't two years ago when he scored a hat full of goals while on loan at derby in this same league and he's definitely no worse than any of the other strikers we have at the club at this moment in time.
roeder is really starting to irritate me with his sarcastic, supersillious attitude to the fans and media's opinions on the team. and the way he conducts himself in the press is awful. i've seen first hand on more than one occasion how rude and arrogant he can be and a large number of fans feel the same. i'm not saying he should be sacked, at least i don't think i am, because, really, what would that achieve at this stage of the season? the january transfer window is open now and by the time we did appoint a new manager he'd have little to no time whatsoever to bring in the required new personel. we badly need a central defender and a striker to fill the gap left by leroy lita, as he is obviously not going to be returning any time soon.
i'm just getting pretty fed up watching a team where winning has become the exception rather than the rule. i am genuinely beginning to fear for our chances of survival in this division if things continue at the current rate. we have fewer points than we did at the same stage last season, despite the fact that last season we only had eight, yes that's right, remember EIGHT points by the end of october. it was a disasterous start to the campaign.
roeder deserves credit for the feat of keeping us up last term, something that really was a minor miracle if you consider the situation we were in when peter grant left the club. anyone who was at qpr away last season to see grant's last game in charge will know what i mean better than anyone. but this term we have simply been second best in far far too many games and thus find ourselves only two points and two places above the championship relegation zone with only four and half months left of the season.
something needs to change and as roeder loves to point out, he's the manager and he knows what's best, not the fans. well if this is the case, i pray to god that you start to come up with the goods on a much more regular basis glen, otherwise you'll be heading for the door and we'll be heading for league one and away games at northampton and carlise. still, carlise will be a new ground if it happens i guess. fuck sake...
