dog city, where the people are dogs..

so yesterday was the much anticipated garden show at 76 lincoln street.

the day started off well enough. jack and i picked up the equipment that he needed to rent from earth studios and dropped it back at the house before i went home to get my drums, etc.
headed back and finished setting up and the first band, nothing existed, started. they're a shoegaze/experimental band consisting of robbie and tom and they're definitely worth checking out. anyway, the sound was loud. really, really loud and because of this after a short while two neighbourhood wardens paid a visit to warn jack about the excessive noise levels and the consequences of receiving a complaint for causing a disturbance.

so...the decision was reached that the whole show would move inside to the living room and we'd play until the wardens showed up again. cue much moving of furniture, sound proofing of windows (sofa cushions work amazingly well) and setting up of equipment. anyway after a short while, lonewolves played to a room filled to bursting with people and we managed to get through the entire set without any unwanted interruptions. we didn't play our entire set technically as we still all thought at that time that it was only a matter of time before the wardens appeared again so we dropped our intro and bridge and raced through the other four. everyone seemed to be into it and it was fun finally getting to play a proper house show as it's something that i personally have never done before. we even got a couple of people crowd surfing and an impromptu human pyramid (of sorts).

anyway, after everyone went outside to allow for an equipment change over, dorian gay played a really good set of late 80's influenced hardcore. they also played 2/3 of nervous breakdown by black flag to which made wes go nuts which was fun. dorian gay are also definitely worth checking out if you like snotty, in your face hardcore punk and replacing words in the titles of literary classics with swear words. they also cover fang. winner.

after dorian gay manuscripts played and i was seriously impressed. hailing from the east midlands and sounding like cursed/old man gloom they got the entire room's attention with their dark, brooding hardcore. and the singer is only 16. amazing.

maths finished up the day and blew me away. i hadn't seen them live for a couple of years and i'd forgotton how technically proficient they are. they were also amazing tight and sounding awesome, a feat in itself considering every band was squeezed into a space probably no more than 8ft by 4ft.

after the show everyone packed up and jack, robbie and i took the equipment back to earth studios.
everyone else headed off to the last ever visual offence show and then the waterfront, but i was way tired by this point and really just wanted to get some food then head home. said my goodbyes then got subway with apryl before we headed back to her parents house to watch csi: ny (yes, i am obsessed) and go to sleep.

today i have no motivation for anything apart from daydreaming about the summer and looking forward to going on tour. i also want to relive yesterday from start to finish as it was one of the funnest shows in ages.

this week is going to be rubbish due to lack of seeing little wolf and the fact i have no shows/football to distract from the mundane aspects of my week. hopefully guitar hero themed hagouts with joe and tea and the quaint vegan cafe down the road will get me through.
