this time next year

so after careful consideration, i have come up with a list of new years resolutions. i personally feel that they're not too unrealistic and that if i achieve most, if not all, of them, then this year is going to totally rule.

anyway...

1. Escape the country.
By escape, i mean leave england for what could be considered an 'extended' period of time. this resolution is easily the most likely to happen what with portland in the summer and other excursions already at the advanced planning stage. i really need to get away, not so much for any self-pitying reasons, just that i'm growing restless in these surroundings and want to experience other places in the world.

2.Get in better shape.
Pretty self-explanatory really. not necessarily lose weight just become a bit fitter. y'know, exercise a bit more, eat less shit food, etc. the dissapearance of the vegan mince pies from the cupboard will aid greatly in this.

3.Buy more vinyl records.
...Money allowing obviously. I've slacked off this year with my record collection, but i've picked up a few gems recently and hopefully this will continue. i am very much looking forward to visits to record stores while in america and the goal of finding an original afi 'dork' 7".

4.Play more shows with Lonewolves.
This year has been up and down for us. we recorded and played some really good shows, but we've been pretty inactive since the summer. hopefully this is all going to change in the next few weeks.
i also want to get the band wes and i have been planning up and running, if only to have a few practices, play a couple of shows and release a shitty demo tape.

5.Read more books.
Clue is in the title. i need to read more books. books about anything of interest too, not just fiction for instance. 2008 started well, but again tailed off in terms of my literary actions, so this will hopefully be rectified and carried on throughout the year.

6.Pass my course.
as, apart from anything else, it'll be a fucking wate of money if i don't. so yeah, better start praying now.

that'll do for the time being. not to unrealistic i hope you'll agree?

also, does anyone know if the ordinary boys are still around? i was listening to 'over the counter culture' this morning and remembering how good it is and how stoked i was on this band when they first came out. then how dissapointed i was by their second effort, then how i pretty much abondoned them after the whole celeb big brother debacle and the heinously bad record that was their thrid album. i miss when preston wasn't a dick and he just dressed like morrissey the whole time, not married shallow air heads from essex and became fodder for heat magazine et al.
