we had the greatest of expectations

watching 'bring back star wars' with justin lee-collins, i never realised how much most of the actors from the original trilogy want to distance themselves from the films.
mark hamill asked for a fee of $50,000 to appear in the show (obviously way too much for a budget c4 show) and from what the other actors said about him, he's totally bitter about the fact that harrison ford became the most famous of all the actors. i guess you can't blame him really. ford went on to be an internationally recognised, whereas hamill is pretty much just known as "the dude from star wars." cool as this may be for a while, i can imagine it would start to grate after a while.
also, the off-screen hatred between the actors who played C3PO and R2D2 is all totally true. i couldn't decide who was in the wrong, but it kind of seemed like they were both as bad as each other. the guy who played C3PO was obviously still bitter about the way he was treated during filming, as was Darth Vader. kind of made me a bit sad to find out that the actors who featured in three of my favourite films of all time, don't really like each other/want to distance themselves from it/etc. it was also a little depressing seeing the actor who played R2D2 shopping in morrison's in preston.

good old warrick davies and carrie fisher were outstanding though. as if he was only 11 when he played the leader of the ewoks.

the programme also made me want to watch the original trilogy again. this is mainly what i'll be doing this week.
