this week for me has been the first of my easter break from college and it's been pretty relaxed. actually that's an understatement; i haven't really done anything of worth to speak of.
monday and tuesday, apryl, steph and i headed up to the uea for two full days of study and eating wedges in the uea canteen which was fun (NB: wedges from educational institutions are always so nice. fact. why is this??) i spent one of these days reading 'sex, drugs and cocoa puffs' by chuck klosterman and found it to be a truly engaging read. it's a collection of essays that examine subject matter as varied as why pamela anderson is a modern day marilyn monroe, to why the the much famed la lakers vs boston celtics rivalry can be used to answer almost all of life's questions (both arguments are scarily convincing.) klosterman can be maddeningly frustrating and laugh out loud funny in equal measure, but he never fails to make me look at things from a perspective that hasn't occurred to me previously. either that, or he says something that is a carbon copy of something i've been thinking which results in one of those moments when you want to yell, "YES! i know EXACTLY what you mean!" but can't because you remember you're in a silent university library and that sort of thing is frowned upon and is also quite embarressing if you do happen to forget the particulars of this given social etiquette.
ANYWAY, reading his books is more fun and almost certainly more enlightening than doing actual academic work. i probably learnt more from reading this book in just over two days than i have from my entire course this year. this may be a partly made up statement, but i hope you get my point. or maybe not. either way, read chuck klosterman books.
apart from this literary distraction i have spent the rest of my week either watching sports in some form (we are getting espn america at home, i am stoked), watching cartoons or napping. yes it has been a week akin to that of a nine year old boy who is also on easter holidays, but i've enjoyed it.
thursday night, i had lonewolves practice which was good even though ams couldn't make it. we had what was probably our best sound ever and i'm looking forward to the this is hell/dead swans show on sunday even more; not just for the bands, just because i haven't been to a show in ages and it will be good to see people. ich bin moshing.
shit i nearly forgot...this week was also joe and maddie's engagement party. i cannot even begin to describe how happy i am that joe and maddie are engaged. they are two of my best friends and to see them so happy is amazing. they make an brilliant couple and deserve to be incredibly happy together. it makes it even nicer, because as i said, they're two of my best friends.
also this week the new hundreds rosewood collection dropped and the shirts are pretty good. i've got more "in to" streetwear in recent weeks after reading blogs from the hundreds (check the blog link on the right) and chatting to friends who are way more up on the latest streetwear fashions than i am.
ANYWAY, below are my favourite shirts from the new range, it just sucks that they're only available from THLA and THSF stores in person...

a homage to the smiths, with a collection of different iconic images related to the band. i was always going to love this shirt. there's also a rip of the queen is dead artwork featured in the new collection, but i prefer this as it's a bit more subtle.

rip off of the classic at the drive in design. amazing band. sweet shirt.

awesome graphic featuring the iconic image of the golden gate bridge. i cannot wait to go to america in the summer and i will definitely be paying a visit to THSF.
i have to do some vague academic work now before settling down to nervously listen to swansea vs norwich. important game. please don't let us get stuffed too badly...
