is it me or is the new series of skins a bit rubbish? i don't mind admitting that i quite enjoyed the first series. i thought the casting, the way it was shot, the storylines, seemed fresh and like nothing really seen on television in the last few years.the second series was less engaging but the development of the characters over the time span of the two series was interesting to watch and the ending of series 2 was handled well.
this series just seems like it has become a parody of itself. maybe it's because i've aged three years since the first series was aired and my tastes have changed. it just seems like there are vast sections of the episodes now that are shocking for shocking's sake and that's dissapointing. it's almost as if the writers and producers realise that more eyes are on them, juding whether the series is still seen to be in touch with british youth and popular culture. maybe the pressure of attempting to keep the programme fresh and exciting has worked to its detriment. as i say, maybe it's just me, i don't know how teenagers who watch the show regard it. it just seems as if the initial fresh, engaging programme has lost its way, replaced by a need to fulfill the high expectations set by the previous two outputs.
